EVERYTHING IS PERFECT THESE DAYS
Unexpected summer storms - the way trees bend gently over
minimum damage despite maximum stress
so we are trees - ripped out of roots - to be transplanted elsewhere
to make way for condominiums
and we are water-heated and sluggish
shallow drafts that need to flow more
and we are earth itself - where we will join as ash or fire
or bones broken by time. And air - within us - a temporary gift
everything is perfect these first days
when we realize how much we have been given
how far we have been allowed free will
how our ant art tracks make a difference
how small IS beautiful
how every cliche is suffused with personal significance
how prayers do not need gods to hear them
how every zone of peace is a sanctuary garden
how green is only one color
how the impossible happens daily
miracles nightly - even more still possible
when we smile and realize - YES!
