Bracketpress ISBN | 21.6.2015
A project embarked upon by daevid allen some two years ago and with the final elements completed since his passing on 13th March 2015.
Just 100 box-sets have been made, 80 of which are available through GAS. There will be no further printings, or part printings of any elements of this box-set.
This wonderful artifact is brought to you by the one and only Tin Man, whom many of you may have seen or met at many a Gongish/daevidish/System 7ish gig or event over the past 25 years. Contrary to the film he has always had a huge heart - well our one has. The deepest nose to knees bowings to him for making the entire thing possible.
All is presented in purple and white candystripe paper bag with hand numbered edition plate on the front.
Inside is a 196mm x 190mm x 27mm Black box with title label inset in centre recess. With red silk 'lift-out' ribbon to aid the removal the contents from the box.
Frontispiece and introduction - 4pp, with hand numbered edition mark (each separate element of the box is hand-numbered) and embossed seal.
Error Australis - 180mm x 175mm x 12mm, 48pp full colour tour diary hardback book by daevid. Illustrated throughout with copious photographs and decorative elements, with the hand numbered edition mark on the reverse.
PHP print - wrapped in some delicately spotty tissue paper. One of the earliest, if not the earliest, representation of a PHP. daevid told me that it dated from perhaps 1964 or '63 he wasn't exactly sure, but it was certainly a couple of years before it's first public appearance in the 'Mongol Review'.
Sparkasse for Starters - 12pp pamphlet by daevid containing poem on one of the many 'joys' of being on a tour-bus.
The Remarkable Story of Mr Pot Head Pixie - 12pp pamphlet. A re-print of the very first public appearance of the Pot Head Pixies, written by daevid at the time of his fabled 'Gong Power Vision', and published in the premier issue of The Mongol Review which was included in Residu 2, Spring 1966.
Promo Postcard - I will also include one of the nice double-sided cards that the Tin Man had printed to publicise this release which seem to be almost as rare as the Box-set itself.
If you want to know more about the high quality craft printers - www.bracketpress.co.uk is the place.
The first daevid/Bracketpress/Tin Man publication was 'soundbites 4 tha reVelation 2012', a limited edition book of 73 which was published in 2011.
